A fuel tank for a motor vehicle, comprising a first tank (1), a fuel pump (3) and an engine supply line (11), wherein fuel can be withdrawn from the first tank (1) via the engine supply line (11) and supplied to an engine, wherein the engine supply line (11) at its end facing the first tank (1) is connected to at least two first suction lines (4), so that a negative pressure in the engine supply line (11) also creates a negative pressure in the first suction lines (4), wherein at the ends of the first suction lines (4) a first float valve (5) is arranged in each case, wherein the first float valves (5) are designed such that they are closed when they are not surrounded by fuel and are open when they are surrounded by fuel.
