The invention relates to a windshield wiping assembly for a motor vehicle, comprising a mounting head (2) capable of being driven in rotation by a motorized shaft about a transverse axis of the mounting head, and a drive arm (4) which extends along a longitudinal axis between a proximal end (42) capable of being pivotally mounted about an axis carried by said mounting head and a distal end (44) opposite capable of carrying a wiping blade, elastic return means (90) being provided to participate in maintaining the position of the arm relative to the mounting head. According to the invention, the drive arm comprises a fairing (55) arranged at its proximal end and which entirely surrounds the mounting head, said fairing presenting on its internal face projecting means (70, 74, 80, 82) cooperating with complementary means (16, 18, 30, 38, 40) projecting from the external face of the mounting head to form on the one hand pivoting means (16, 74) of the arm about the head and on the other hand means of maintaining the position of the arm relative to the head according to different functional positions of the wiping assembly.
