FLAT LIGHTING ELEMENT FOR THE INTERIOR OF A VEHICLE
DRIVE
November 11, 2015
The invention relates to a lighting element with a light source (2), a planar light guide (3), and an at least partially transparent film (4). The light source does not backlight the light guide, but rather couples light into the light guide at an acute angle. The angle is preferably 0 to 45° in order to maximize reflections at the surfaces of the light guide, so that it actually guides the light. The light guide and film consist of different materials. The light guide is produced by overmolding the film, i.e., the film is placed in an injection molding tool and the light guide is molded in one process step and bonded to the film. By using the overmolding of the film as the light guide, the number of required individual parts can be reduced. The film and light guide thereby form a permanent bond, so that friction and squeaking noises cannot arise between them. Overmolding also reduces the number of necessary process steps in the manufacture and assembly of the lighting element.
