A user interface and a method for adapting a view on a display unit (2) of a user interface (1) are proposed. The method comprises the steps of: - calling up a configuration mode for assigning a functional scope to a tile (7) displayed on the display unit (2) from a plurality of displayed tiles (7), - displaying a first plurality (12) of first control surfaces (13, 14, 15, 16) representing a respective functional scope, - receiving a first user input relating to the first control surface (13, 14) and in response thereto, - displaying a second plurality of second control surfaces (13a, 13b; 14a, 14b) thematically associated with the first control surface (13, 14).
