The present invention relates to a rear masking device for a motor vehicle (50), of the type comprising: - an object-holding support member (12), intended to be mounted movably in the vehicle, - at least one link (14) connected to the object-holding support member having a retention end (16) on the object-holding support member (12) and a free end (18). A surface of the object-holding support member (12) defines at least one elongated groove (14), the link being movable between a rest position received in the groove (30) and a use position in which at least part of the link (14) projects out of the groove (30) beyond the surface of the object-holding support member (12).
