Loading space cover

The invention relates to a cargo area cover for vehicles with a cargo area (4) provided between the rear seats (3) and a rear door (2), consisting of a cassette (6) arranged transversely to the vehicle with a flexible cover tarpaulin (5) that can be pushed back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle for optional coverage of the cargo area (4), an axle rotatably mounted in the cassette (6) on which the cover tarpaulin (5) can be wound up or unwound from it, guide rails (7) that can be fastened on both sides of the cargo area (4) and run approximately horizontally in the vehicle direction for receiving the cassette (6), as well as a manually operable push device (8) on each of the two guide rails (7) for moving the cassette (6) between an operating position (14) located directly behind the rear seats (3) and an access position (15) offset rearwardly in the direction of the rear door (2). The invention is intended to provide the cargo area cover in such a way that the cassette (6) can be installed and removed more conveniently from an ergonomically favorable position. This is achieved in that the front end of each push device (8) in the direction of travel has a coupling device that can be releasably connected to the cassette (6), in that the guide rails (7) in the area of the rearwardly offset access position (15) each have a removal and loading point (10) for the cassette (6), and in that the cassette (6) can be coupled to the push devices (8) at the removal and loading point (10) or can be detached from them.
