Provided is a drive control device for a hybrid vehicle, that suppresses a driver's sense of unease when the engine starts from an engine-stopped state. The drive control device comprises: a clutch (CL) that engages/disengages between a carrier (C1) for a first planetary gear device (14) and a carrier (C2) for a second planetary gear device (16); and a brake (BK) that engages/disengages the carrier (C2) from a housing (26). When starting the engine (12) from mode 2 (EV-2) which is a travel mode in which the engine (12) is stopped and both the clutch (CL) and the brake (BK) are engaged, at least one of either the clutch (CL) or the brake (BK) is released, thereby suitably suppressing the generation of reverse drive force when starting the engine from an engine-stopped state
