Described herein is an apparatus for obtaining predetermined damping characteristics and performing a simultaneous energy recovery in a regenerative shock absorbers that envisage a transformation of the linear motion of the piston rod of a shock absorber into a rotary motion of the shaft (11) of an electric generator (12), the apparatus comprising a DC/DC conversion stage (23; 33) configured for converting the voltage of the aforesaid electric generator (12) for an accumulation element (14), in particular a battery. According to the invention the aforesaid conversion stage comprises a converter (23; 33) configured for controlling via a control module (21) the value of its own input current (I inDCDC ) and for operating as a generator of a charging current (I outDCDC ) in regard to the aforesaid accumulation element (14).
