A control apparatus is applied to a hybrid vehicle (1A). In the hybrid vehicle (1A), a transmission (10) changing the gear stages in response to an operation to a shift lever (13) is provided in a power transmission path between an internal combustion engine (2) and drive wheels (5), and an MG (3) is provided so as to drive the drive wheels (5). The hybrid vehicle (1A) is allowed to travel in an EV traveling mode where the internal combustion engine (2) is stopped and the drive wheels (5) are driven by the MG (3), and an engine traveling mode where the drive wheels (5) are driven by the internal combustion engine (2). The control apparatus switches a traveling mode to the EV traveling mode, in a case that the control apparatus determines that an accelerator opening degree is less than a determination opening degree when the vehicle (1A) is in the engine traveling mode. The control apparatus restricts a switching to the EV traveling mode in a period from a start of a shift operation until a switching restriction time elapses after the gear shifting is completed, in a case that the shift operation of the transmission (10) is performed when the traveling mode is the engine traveling mode.
