A battery system comprising a plurality of cells (1), wherein each cell (1) has a first pole connector (2) made of aluminum and a second pole connector (3) made of copper, and at least one cell connector, wherein the cell connector is formed from a first section (4) and a second section (5), wherein the first section (4) is connected to the first pole connector (2) and the second section (5) is connected to the second pole connector (3), wherein the first and second sections (4, 5) are joined to one another in a cell connector joining surface (6) by an electromagnetic pulse welding process, which lies in a first plane (7), wherein a first joining area (8) between first section (4) and first pole connector (2) and a second joining area (9) between second section (5) and second pole connector (3) lie in a second plane (10), and wherein the first plane (7) and the second plane (10) are angled relative to one another, and a method for manufacturing the battery system.
