A method for calibrating a first (115) and a second (116) camera, each provided on a motor vehicle (100), comprises: - providing a first frame (101) of the first camera (115) and a second frame (102) of the second camera (116), - determining at least one image element (111) that is present in both the first (101) and in the second frame (102), - determining an orientation of the image element (111) in the first frame (101) relative to the image element (111) in the second frame (102), - determining a relative position of the first camera (115) to the second camera (116) as a function of the determined orientation, - combining the first frame (101) and the second frame (102) into a composite overall image (109) of an environment (110) of the motor vehicle (100) as a function of the determined relative position.
