A device (100) for route guidance, in particular of a vehicle, along a route (202), is proposed, comprising a display unit (101) for generating and displaying a route representation (200) comprising at least one optical guidance element (203), a speech output unit (102) for generating (106) and outputting at least one guidance information (103) as spoken words and/or sentences and/or parts thereof, and a control unit (104) for controlling the display of the at least one optical guidance element (203) synchronously with words and/or word parts to the output of the at least one guidance information (103). A corresponding method for route guidance is furthermore proposed. As a result, the optical display and the speech output of the guidance information are better coordinated and the comprehensibility of the route guidance is improved.
