The present invention relates to a method of controlling an optical output device for displaying a vehicle surround view (1) containing a vehicle model (2), said method comprising: - determining display control information for at least one vehicle component (10-18), and - controlling the optical output device to display the vehicle surround view (1) such that the vehicle model (2) is adapted to depict the at least one vehicle component (10-18) according to the display control information.
