A hand-held working tool comprises an internal combustion engine (12), a throttle lever (10), and an operating mode selector (8). The throttle lever (10) is adjustable between an idle position (62) and a full throttle position (63), and the operating mode selector (8) is adjustable between an operating position (64) and a start position (65). At least one throttle element (21, 23) is arranged in an intake duct (17) of the internal combustion engine (12), which is in a throttle position (66, 67) in the start position (65) of the operating mode selector (8). The throttle element (21, 23) is held in the throttle position (66, 67) by means of a detent. The detent is released upon actuation of the throttle lever (10) in the direction of the full throttle position (63). In order to return the operating mode selector (8) from the start position (65) to the operating position (64), the working tool is provided with a reset element (39) that is permanently coupled to the position of the throttle lever (10) and that acts upon the operating mode selector upon actuation of the throttle lever (10) to release the detent and returns the operating mode selector (8) to the operating position (64).
