The invention relates to a hand-held measuring aid for use in a system for measuring an object surface, said system comprising a station for determining the position and orientation of the measuring aid. The measuring aid has a body, visual markings which, forming a pattern in defined spatial relationship, are arranged on the body in a marking region, a measuring probe for the object surface arranged at an opening of the body in defined spatial relationship relative to the pattern, an operating element, an electronic circuit for generating a measurement trigger signal — which occurs depending on actuation of the operating element — and wireless communication means for transmitting the measurement trigger signal to the station. [0002] According to the invention, the measuring aid is configured and designed such, and the body has such a first section, and the first operating element is arranged on the first section of the body in such a manner, that the measuring aid is provided in measuring position for being held one-handed in the manner of a writing pen, and in this arrangement the first section serves as a gripping region for at least the thumb and index finger (and in particular also the middle finger) of the user, and that in this measuring position the operating element can be actuated with the gripping thumb or the gripping index finger.
