Method for determining the spatial orientation and position of a reflector rod relative to a measuring point

The method involves generating data in a first coordinate system to determine the spatial orientation of the reflector (3) and rod (1) relative to light from a base station (6), forming an image of the rod and reflector on a position sensor (9) in the station, determining reflector orientation and position in a second coordinate system from measured angles and the base station-reflector distance. Method further comprises: determining coordinate system spatial orientation rotation parameters and deriving the measurement or location point (P) orientation/position in the second system from the reflector data and rotation parameters. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an arrangement for determining the spatial orientation and position of a reflector rod relative to a measurement point.
