The invention relates to an infrared heater for heating a wellness facility, which has an infrared radiation source (3) arranged in a housing (1), as well as a cover made of light-transmissive material. The cover is formed by two panes (4, 5) arranged at a distance from one another, wherein the material of the pane (4) located closer to the infrared radiation source (3) has a higher degree of absorption for the radiation emitted by the infrared radiation source (3) than the material of the pane (5) located further away from the infrared radiation source (3).
