The invention relates to an energy absorption profile (1) for a motor vehicle comprising an extruded hollow profile (2) made of light metal or a light metal alloy. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an energy absorption profile (1). The energy absorption profile (1) dissipates kinetic energy through deformation in the event of a crash. The hollow profile (2) has outer walls (3, 4, 5, 6) and at least one inner wall (7, 8, 9) connecting two outer walls (3, 4, 5, 6). According to the invention, the inner wall (7, 8, 9) is at least partially removed in an inner wall section (19, 20, 27). In this way, the deformation behavior of the energy absorption profile (1) can be influenced.
