GAS CYLINDER AND THE USE OF SUCH GAS CYLINDER

A gas cylinder (1) to be used in a vehicle safety arrangement is provided. The gas cylinder (1) comprises a cylinder (2) and a piston (3). The piston is movably arranged inside the cylinder (2) and divides the cylinder in a first chamber (7) and a second chamber (8). The first chamber (7) is configured to contain a pressurized gas volume having a dimensioned maximum pressure P1. A gas generator (16) is arranged in communication with the second chamber (8). The gas generator (16) is upon activation configured to generate a pressurized gas volume inside the second chamber (8), thereby providing a peak pressure P2 which is dimensioned to override the dimensioned maximum pressure P1 in the first chamber (7) and to cause a rupture of the cylinder (2) or a rupture of a gas inlet arrangement (21) that is configured to supply gas to the first chamber (7), thereby allowing the pressurized gas in the first chamber (7) to be released to the ambience.
