Method and control device for providing a street layout ahead

The method involves extracting road data from aerial image data. A vehicle (1) is associated with a road (2). A position of the vehicle relative to the road is determined by combining the road data with the position of the vehicle. Course of the road is determined by evaluating the road data from road sections that are to be driven by the vehicle in relation to direction of travel according to a predetermined route within next-few seconds or minutes. The course of the road and the position of the vehicle are provided to a driver assistance system (100). An independent claim is also included for a control device for providing a course of a road ahead in relation to a geographical position and direction of travel of a vehicle to a driver assistance system of the vehicle.
