Method for evaluating sensor data of the surroundings of a motor vehicle from at least one environment sensor and motor vehicle

The method involves associating a strip selected from set of strips together with an indication at a transverse position within the strip perpendicular to the longitudinal direction to a motor vehicle in a road plane, for describing a position of an environment feature i.e. point cell, determined in the context of evaluation. The strips are arranged one after the other in a longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle. Sensor data are accumulated as individual measurement data in data containers. The position description is used in a control mode of a driver assistance system. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising an inertial sensor system.
