Method and device for detecting a roadway that leads over a ramp

The method involves determining characteristic widths (L1,L2) of the roadway (106) in the image (200) captured by video camera (114) mounted in the vehicle (110) at a first image position of the image and determining second characteristic width (L3) of the roadway in the image at a second image position of the image. An expected second characteristic width is determined using first characteristic widths and distance between first and second image positions. The second characteristic width (L3) is compared with expected second characteristic width, so as to detect the ramp (104). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) device for detecting roadway leading over ramp; and (2) computer program product for detecting roadway leading over ramp.
