The method (200) involves reading a brightness value at a position of an image captured by a vehicle camera and another brightness value at another position of the image captured by another vehicle camera (210). The image positions and an identical position are represented in an environment of the vehicle, where the identical position is associated with an object. An object class of the object is determined based on a comparison of the brightness values (220), where the object is classified into a reflecting object or a luminescent object.
