Method for manufacturing a floor mat for protecting an original mat of a motor vehicle and floor mat obtained

The method involves providing a flexible panel with internal and external faces, and forming openings in the panel, where edges of the openings are delimited by an intermediate edge between internal edges and external edges (12) of the openings. The panel is placed in a mold (19), and a mating mold is provided to cooperate with the mold. A polymer melt is injected into an interior volume via a dispensing unit arranged in the mold and the mating mold to partially mold the external edges of the openings for forming molded parts (13-16) that lead to internal and external faces of the panel. The flexible panel is designed as a textile panel such as fabric panel, knitted fabric panel, non-woven fabric panel, a carpet, a tufted carpet or carded and needle-punched non-woven fiber material carpet. An independent claim is also included for a floor mat.
