Arm for a wheel suspension in a motor vehicle

The suspension arm (10) has a wheel-sided bearing (12), a body-sided bearing (14) and an arm base (16) extending between the two bearings. The bearings have a core (18) that is bordered by a casing (20). The operating loads occurring below a predetermined misuse load are exclusively incorporated by the casing, where selective failure of the casing occurs when the predetermined misuse load is exceeded. The core made of steel is separated into two sections (22,24), which are connected with each other by a coupling (26) that is brought into engagement in a suspension arm longitudinal direction. The casing is formed of short-fiber-reinforced plastic.
