Operation of a railcar with a plurality of combustion engines

The method involves predefining multiple different operating requirements by the operation of the vehicle. One of the multiple operating modes of an operation of the combustion engine is assigned to the operating requirements. The operating modes differ with regard to the switching-off of combustion engine not used by the drive system. The combustion engine is driven corresponding to a selected operating mode. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for supplying a railway-traction vehicle with energy for shifting of the vehicle.
