The battery has a set of cells (CM) connected via high voltage lines and a high voltage interface to disconnection devices arranged outside of the battery. A control system controls and monitors operating status of the cells. A metallically conductive compartment is provided within a housing (GH), and accommodates parts of the control system, where lines of the high voltage interface, which lead to outside of the battery are led through common-mode interference dampers. Battery module controllers (CSC) are connected via a galvanically isolating mechanism to a central unit (ZE). The common-mode interference dampers are formed from ferrite rings and Vitroperm cores. The battery module controllers are a bus high battery module controller and a bus low battery module controller. An independent claim is also included for a high voltage battery system.
