Direct injection combustion engine

DRIVE February 12, 2014
Source
The combustion engine has a cylinder and a piston (1). The piston has a combustion chamber recess (2) at upper side, and trough base (3) which is upwardly arched towards a center. An injection nozzle (4) generates fuel jet (6) whose center line (7) is extended approximately parallel to the trough base. The injection nozzle is positioned such that the fuel jet is made to impinge on the axial twisted combustion air when the center line of the fuel jet is at an angle of 0-6[deg] with respect to the top dead center of the injection nozzle, during the upward movement of piston.
