Direct injection internal combustion engine and fuel injection valve

The internal combustion engine (100) has a movable piston (15) that is arranged between a lower dead center (UT) and an upper dead center (OT) along a piston longitudinal axis (12). A fuel injector (20) is provided with an injection port for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber (10). An end portion (21) of fuel injector is provided in a region of upper dead center of piston. A sub-section of fuel injector is protruded in specific portion (26) of a recess (25) of piston, so as to form a flow gap (30) with small spacing.
