Method for shutting down a pneumatic hybrid internal combustion engine

The method involves achieving a piston's stop position that is determined by a control system in order to facilitate a next start up of the engine when a terminated stop process results from sending gas from a pressurized gas container (8) into a combustion chamber (3), where the stop process includes a stop phase of engine after which the engine is stopped. Pressurized gas is sent into the chamber during a correction phase when the engine is stopped and disconnected. Gas is introduced into the chamber by opening a pneumatic hybridization valve (10) connected to the container.
