A hybrid vehicle includes an engine (24), a first rotating electric machine (MG1), a drive shaft rotating in cooperation with a wheel, a power split mechanism mechanically splitting power between a rotational shaft of the engine (24), a rotational shaft of the first rotating electric machine (MG1), and the drive shaft, and a control device (40) controlling the rotational speed of the first rotating electric machine (MG1) such that the rotational speed of the engine (24) matches a target rotational speed. The control device (40) calculates a torque command value of the first rotating electric machine (MG1) based on an upper limit value of electric power discharged from a power storage device supplying electric power to the first rotating electric machine (MG1). The control device (40) calculates the torque command of the first rotating electric machine (MG1) based on a further restricted value of the upper limit value when a torque restricting condition including simultaneous operation of an accelerator pedal and brake pedal is met.
