In an electric device control method and an electric device according to the present invention, when the generation of electric power is carried out by a first electric motor receiving drive torque of an internal combustion engine that is rotatably supported relative to a drive shaft of a hybrid vehicle, the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine is set higher as the speed of the vehicle increases, and when the driving force required by a second electric motor that is connected to the drive shaft becomes zero or negative, if the vehicle speed is greater than or equal to a first threshold value, the internal combustion engine is stopped; and if the vehicle speed is less than the first threshold value, the power generation is continued.
