The device (1) has a condenser (2) that is arranged for condensing a water vapor contained in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine into water in an exhaust gas system. The water is collected in a collecting container (3) of a water injection system for the re-injection to a combustion process of the internal combustion engine. The condenser is arranged in a sound absorber (4) of the exhaust gas system. The internal combustion engine has a cooling system with a cooling liquid.
