The method involves detecting a value of an operating parameter of drive motors (20-26) of a motor vehicle (10). The drive motor of the motor vehicle is controlled in response to the detected value to change a driving situation of the motor vehicle. A condition of a track section and/or a degree of adhesion of wheels (12-18) on the track section and/or a yaw rate of the motor vehicle and/or staggering of the motor vehicle and/or a pitch of the motor vehicle is determined based on the detected value. The track section is located below the wheel of the motor vehicle. The operating parameters are selected from motor current, power consumption of the drive motor, rotation speed of a rotor, pulse rate of an inverter, q-component of stator current, D-component of the stator current and slip frequency between a stator and a rotor rotary field. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle.
