Method for controlling a road toll system

The method involves transmitting a violation data record that contains a read license plate number and a recording vehicle identifier, to a switching server (7). An assigned control vehicle identifier is determined such that the violation data record is sent to a control vehicle (6) identified by the determined identifier. The license plate number of a passing vehicle (1) is read by the control vehicle. The read license plate number is compared to a license plate number contained in the violation data record. An alert message is output when the license plate numbers agree with each other.
