The method involves operating an energy conversion device (3) according to an organic rankine cycle process, where the energy conversion device supplies the waste heat of an internal combustion engine (2) for evaporating a two-phase working medium (M). The energy conversion device is applied for the condensation of the working medium, particularly liquefied cold air (K) of a liquid air storage device (9). The evaporation of the working medium takes place in a vapor heat exchanger (4). An independent claim is included for a stationary power plant with an exhaust gas line.
