Rubber article with a label and method of manufacturing

A rubber article comprising a first surface (52) having a plurality of extensions (54) formed in a specified pattern, and a label (90) affixed to the extensions (54) is disclosed. Also, a method of manufacturing such a rubber article, for instance a pneumatic tire, is disclosed. The method comprises preparing a green rubber article; molding a plurality of extensions (54) having a specified pattern on a first surface (52) of the green rubber article in a mold and curing the green rubber article; and affixing a label (90) to the extensions (54) after the curing of the green rubber article.
