A heat and/or fire protection assembly (100) for a component (104), the assembly comprising: a plurality of protrusions (110) distributed about a surface of the component, the protrusions protruding with respect to the surface of the component; the protrusions comprising a barrier material (130), the barrier material being arranged and configured to form a first protective layer under the action of heat, the first protective layer being arranged to protect the component from the heat.
