A four-stroke engine (2, 202) includes a cylinder head (18, 218), a cylinder body (17) connected to the cylinder head (18, 218) and a fuel injection valve (34). The cylinder head (18, 218) defines a combustion chamber (20), an intake port (21, 221) that communicates with the combustion chamber (20), and an exhaust port (22, 222) that communicates with the combustion chamber (20). The fuel injection valve (34) is held by the cylinder head (18, 218) on a side extending from the exhaust port (22, 222) to the cylinder body (17). The fuel injection valve (34) is arranged so as to supply a fuel mist directly to the combustion chamber (20) by jetting the fuel mist toward the combustion chamber (20).
