A computer system comprising processing circuitry configured to: detect, using sensors of a host vehicle, a high acceleration traffic situation involving a secondary vehicle, estimate a required power to handle the high acceleration traffic situation clear of the secondary vehicle within a timeframe, determine the required power exceeds a current power available in an activated ECO mode of the vehicle, adapt a driving mode of the vehicle from the ECO mode to a higher power mode providing higher propulsion power than in the ECO mode.
