Method for controlling the temperature of exhaust gases in order to optimise the regeneration of a particle filter

The method involves determining temperature setpoint in upstream of a particle filter (12) of an exhaust line (5), where the temperature setpoint is a fixed value for initiating and/or maintaining combustion of soot contained in the particle filter or a value variable based on estimation of mass of the soot. Temperature setpoint in downstream of an oxidation catalyst (8) is calculated. Temperature in downstream of the oxidation catalyst is controlled. A fuel post-injection setpoint is determined. A post-injection fuel portion diluted in engine oil is compensated.
