A secondary battery comprises a wound electrode assembly that comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator wound together around a winding axis, a case for accommodating the electrode assembly and an electrolyte and first and second electrode tabs respectively formed on one end of the positive electrode and on one end of the negative electrode, wherein the case and the electrode assembly are curved in a winding direction of the electrode assembly, and the first and second electrode tabs extend from the respective ends of the positive and negative electrodes in a direction that is generally perpendicular to the winding axis of the electrode assembly.
