A pneumatic tire with a woven or knitted reinforcement

A pneumatic tire comprising a tread (12) and at least one reinforced ply (14) placed in a predetermined location on a toroidal surface is disclosed. The tread (12) is disposed radially outward of the reinforced ply (14). The reinforced ply (14) comprises a reinforcing structure (141) comprising at least one layer (300) of an open construction woven or knitted fabric having warp yarns (311) extending in a first direction and weft yarns (312) extending in the radial direction or at least substantially in the radial direction of the tire (10). Also a method of manufacturing such a tire is disclosed.
