Cross-member for a compound steering axle

The cross member (5') has a longitudinal axis which is elastically deformable, where a structure is designed such that a torsional moment is produced by elastic torsional deformation in the longitudinal axis. The torsional moment causes a bending deformation of the cross member. An independent claim is also included for a torsion beam for a motor vehicle.
