VEHICLE ROUTE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR AVOIDING COLLISIONS IN HOT LANE CHANGE SITUATIONS

A vehicle system includes a control module configured to determine one or more reliability scores for each road segment of a plurality of road segments of a lane, modify the one or more reliability scores for each road segment based on a number of vehicles changing lanes and/or a time taken for the vehicles to change lanes, select a road segment with the highest reliability score, determine a lane merge feasibility based on an expected headway value, a vehicle lane change ratio for vehicles, and a time gap to change lanes, determine a modified lane merge feasibility based on a number of vehicles making lateral moves into and out of the lane, and identify the selected road segment as a portion to avoid when merging into the lane based on the modified lane merge feasibility.
