The motor vehicle (1) has a braking device (4), a control unit (6) for outputting a specific control signal depending on a signal of the braking device, and a transmission (2). A transmission control unit is provided for outputting an idle state signal when the transmission is switched in the idle state. A sensor unit is provided for outputting slope information when the motor vehicle is present on a slope. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor vehicle.
