LOCALIZATION-BASED LANE SENSING
DRIVE
April 23, 2026
Vehicles, systems and methods for performing localization-based lane sensing are disclosed. In some embodiments, an automotive vehicle includes a vehicle navigation system, a lane level location localization system communicably coupled to the vehicle navigation system and having one or more processors to execute: a first pipeline including at least one image sensor to obtain first lane sensing information that includes image data corresponding to curvature and geometry of detected lanes; a second pipeline including one or more databases comprising map data corresponding to road level latitude and longitude coordinates for a plurality of roadway features to provide second information that includes lane curvature and lane geometry related to a position of the automotive vehicle; and an artificial intelligence (AI)-based image matching architecture to compare and match the first lane sensing information and the second information to produce matched lane sensing data for use in determining lane level localization of the vehicle.
