Backrest element and method for producing a backrest element for a vehicle seat

The backrest element (6) comprises a plate-shaped supporting structure which extends behind a support surface of a backrest. The supporting structure comprises an aluminum sandwich structure (7). A spacer structure is arranged between two surface layers (11) that are made of plastic material or aluminum. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a backrest structure with a sandwich structure; (2) a backrest with a cushion and a backrest element; and (3) a method for producing a backrest element.
