Optical system for an automobile

DRIVE September 21, 2011
Source
The system (100) has headlamps (1, 2) arranged on right and left sides of a motor vehicle, where the headlamps are arranged for being optically switched between two partial beams of different types. The partial beam emitted by one of the headlamps has a cut segment (CV) that defines a dark area in a global light beam (FG) resulting from a combination of the partial beam with the partial beam of the other headlamp. The dark area is variable during pivoting one of the beams according to information representing the presence of a third party motor vehicle in an environment of the former vehicle.
