The element (2) has an illuminant i.e. LED, arranged in an interior of a housing (3) and a lamp holder (10) arranged outside of the housing. The housing exhibits a transparent housing section (8) for emission of lights of the illuminant on the interior of the housing. The housing is provided with a housing shell (5), a housing head (6) and a housing base (7). The lamp holder is attached to the housing base and/or the housing shell. The transparent housing section is attached to the housing head. The housing shell exhibits a symmetrical cross section in a longitudinal extension. An independent claim is also included for a lamp system comprising a socket and an illuminant element.
